The Anne T. Kent California Room and the California Film Institute present a rare screening of the silent film, Salomy Jane, first released in 1914 by the California Motion Pictures Corporation, whose studios were located in San Rafael. Based on a story by Bret Harte, Salomy Jane stars Beatriz Michelena in a western melodrama set in the era of the 1849 Gold Rush. Exteriors were filmed in Marin County as well as the Russian River area.
Arrive early for an illustrated presentation by silent film historians David Kiehn (Niles Essany Silent Film Museum) and William Sagar (Fairfax Historical Society). Piano accompaniment by Bruce Loeb.
