While touring Seattle last summer, we noticed a very sleek cafe that had an entire glassed in area, devoted to kids' play. What a great idea! Parents sip coffee while kids go berzerk in an adjoining, fully visible room.
Husband and wife team, Nicki Richesin, and husband, Joel Warwick, of San Rafael agree, this idea is quite clever. They've opened Playdate Cafe in San Anselmo, a pay-to-play cafe, offering daily sing-alongs, story times, classes like "Toddler Time" and special events - children's performers, parenting workshops, parent's nights out, and more.
Word is, that the menu, both kid and parent focused, offers some pretty tasty fare. Healthy, whole foods are emphasized - TheMarinGuide is all for that! - though when we stopped by today, we saw that there are still plenty of familiar snackies to appease any vegetable adverse toddlers. We forgot to ask if they let people over 4' hang out in the custom-built play area.
The cafe is open daily, from 10am-5pm. Day passes and memberships are available, and a first visit is free.
