Ross
Ross, much like (and adjacent to) San Anselmo, is hidden, despite the fact that Sir Francis Drake runs fully alongside of it. Many people know Ross as that Marin town where Sean and Robin Wright Penn live - somewhere back there in those fancy old homes and hills.
Ross has a town square remniscent of old New England villages. Residents can walk down to the corner grocery, post office and not-quite-a-handful of local dining establishments.
Ross has plenty to offer in the way of flora, fauna and access to the great outdoors. The serene Phoenix Lake, sits just a short stroll out of town - it's gorgeous hiking and biking trails are often empty on the weekdays. As well, the Marin Art & Garden Center exists to support arts, history, horticulture and environmental conservation in the area.
