This is a portal, through which you can explore what is likely one of the least typical "suburbs" in the United States - Marin County. What other suburb offers 141,400 acres of state, federal, and county parkland and open space, yet is just a quick commute to one of the world's most beautiful cities?

A short drive (or bicycle ride, or run!) across the Golden Gate Bridge from San Francisco, Marin County is comprised of numerous eclectic and vibrant communities. From classic bungalows tucked in redwood groves, to colorful floating homes in Richardson's Bay, to modern "Green" homes, cozy condos, and Airstream trailers parked in back alleyways - there's a home for anyone in Marin.

Producers, farmers, motorcycle mechanics, cheese makers, tile craftsmen, famous and infamous musicians, full-time parents, singles, students, and seniors who actively protest for peace - all build lives here.  If you're looking for a new place to call home, some space to get inspired, waves to surf, an uphill ride, a strong cup of coffee, or evening of outstanding food and music, do come visit Marin. 

While no area can forever, maintain its original charms, TheMarinGuide is grateful that the towns of Marin, to a great extent, have been saved from thoughtless development, loss of farm and oceanfront land, and encroachment of big business.   To a great extent, this site will serve promote and support local businesses and culture.
